We believe it is important to offer you the best possible service and are particularly aware of the advantages of prompt treatment. In general, the faster someone is seen post injury, the faster the recovery.
When you attend the clinic for the first time, a detailed history is taken. We then carry out a thorough musculoskeletal assessment. Together, the history and assessment indicate to your therapist the cause and extent of your injury. With this information, a treatment plan will be discussed with you and goals set.
This is a collection of hands on graded techniques in which passive movements are skillfully applied to move joints and soft tissues carefully to reduce pain and restore normal mobility to the joints and the surrounding soft tissues. The therapist's movement of the joint is very precise and is limited by the amount of joint play, which may be less than 1/8th of an inch. It involves mobilization, soft tissue mobilization, manipulation and other related techniques.
Home exercises are specifically designed for each individual. They are designed especially for you by your Chartered Physiotherapist to help your posture, improve the mobility of your spine and joints, and stabilise and strengthen the muscles that support your bones. These exercises are carefully monitored so you can feel safe and secure in gaining fitness to return to work, normal activities and your level of sport.
Painful feet, knees, hips & back are often caused by a biomechanical problem i.e. the shape of your hips, knees and feet. A biomechanical assessment of your feet involves a complex evaluation of feet, legs and body position in both weight-bearing and non weight-bearing situations. We also analyse your gait and detect any unusual foot function that may be affecting other parts of the body. This enables us to decide which device/orthotic is best suited to improve and support the way you walk. A device/orthotic is a custom-made device which balance your feet and allow you to walk in as close to a neutral position as possible, reducing the rotational stresses from your feet to your back. i.e. the alignment of your lower limbs, knees and feet. Devices that we use include:
Electrotherapy involves using high frequency sound waves to treat injuries to muscles, tendons and other soft tissues. It is thought to stimulate blood circulation and cell activity, accelerating the healing process and providing pain relief. We use ultrasound or interferential to speed up your recovery.
